Cedar Rapids, IA - The Lugar Center’s Bipartisan Index continues to shine a bright light on Congress’s efforts - or lack thereof - to bring a bipartisan approach to solving America’s most urgent problems. The latest example comes from The Des Moines Register and Cedar Rapids Gazette, where guest columnist Steve Corbin grades the Iowa Congressional delegation’s Bipartisan Index performance.

Washington, DC - TLC's Lugar Diplomacy Series launched its second season with a talk by former White House Chief of Staff Joshua Bolten, who discussed the first months of the Trump administration and the prospects for future developments in legislation, trade and foreign policy.

Lugar’s Food Security Vision Impacts Liberia

Monrovia, Liberia - Liberian women are earning more money on their smallholder farms thanks to an initiative coordinated by The Lugar Center’s project on global food security. Indiana-based The Lugar Series political leadership program and international nonprofit ACDI/VOCA, worked with The Lugar Center in order to accelerate the training, equipping, and empowering of 273 women smallholder farmers.

Redesign Consensus: a Plan for U.S. Assistance

Washington, DC - Read a new policy proposal from the Modernizing Foreign Assistance Network (MFAN), chaired by the Lugar Center's Connie Veillette, outlining steps USAID can take to improve its work. The Lugar Center provides a Republican voice through its partner, MFAN, which builds upon the bipartisan consensus that the U.S. should play a leadership role in achieving economic growth and reducing poverty and suffering around the world, and strives to improve aid transparency, efficiency, and sustainability.
